Today is my first official day as a church planter here in Oshawa, Ontario.
We arrived two weeks ago, and life has been a whirlwind ever since. We've moved into our house (well, we're working on it, at least), we've spent some time exploring our new neighbourhood, new stores, new parks - new adventures.
And now, today, I officially start. It's a bit of a funny feeling, just starting, when there's nothing really there. I started my day with the first meeting of a new mom & toddler group I joined, in hopes of meeting some new people and digging in to the area a bit more. And I'm writing this post from a coffee shop called Coffee Culture, located near the shared campus of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Durham College - which, I hope, will become a place of ministry for me and this new little church. And...that's where it starts. Toddlers playing soccer and me drinking coffee.
So - here's my plan for this little blog of mine. I intend to use this space as a way of sharing stories of what's happening in north Oshawa, and what I'm up to as a church planter. I also intend to use this space to share ways that you can pray for what God is doing here. If you're reading this blog, I hope you'll join me in praying for this new ministry opportunity and all that comes with it! (And, if you're reading this and not into prayer...that's okay! Please keep reading, and check in on what's happening anyway.) So, stay tuned for (hopefully) weekly updates on both those spheres.
And, feel free to leave a comment when you stop by! I'd love to hear from you, too. It's always encouraging to know someone's reading these words I throw out into cyberspace. :)
Thanks for following along on this journey - I'm glad you're here with me! And...let's call this Day One in the books.
